| Last night, CSI: NY shot a christmas scene right in front of our bungalow. Only in LA will you ever see a "snow covered" neighborhood while its in the mid 80s. I took pictures. Yes. I am a dork.

| So I have yet another reason to hate reality shows. While I've never been quite fond of them (except for maybe "Who Wants To Be A Superhero"), they're now costing me my job. To sum up the article below, NBC has decided to replace its primetime hour at 8pm with reality TV and gameshows. This means my sitcom, "Twenty Good Years", and all shows between the hours of 8 and 9 Monday - Friday will soon be replaced by your "Survivor", "Dancing with the Stars", "Real World", and "AMerican Idol" copy cats. I had a little talk with my roommate about the press release and we decided that the decision wasn't surprising - just disgusting. From a corporate point of view, producing a gameshow that costs a 1/3 of a sitcom/drama and revenues 3X that of a scripted program makes total sense in a short-term corporate view. But, as the article also notes, its a bad plan long term due to the inevitable "one-time" air nature of reality shows. It also just sucks because if TV continues this way - and more importantly audience keep watching gameshows/reality TV over scripted programming - 20 good years from now we'll have nothing but news and reality TV. Weee. Heh, anyways, thats my little soapbox in the midst of my ever quickly vanishing job security. For those of you who like "Twenty Good Years" (or scripted shows in general) and would like some discount WB DVDs, let me know asap as I may not have employee status for much longer...*tear*

| So today my roommate and I tried our hand at making Blooming Onions....yeah....while it was entertaining I'll probably just have to chalk this up to a good learning experience. Our onions didn't "bloom" so well and the batter tasted nothing like the one from Outback. Ironically though, all the ingredients and frying oil ended costing us more than a normal appetizer at outback would. Oh well. haha. It was fun. I did throw a couple pieces of chicken into the batter and fryer as well. Those turned out surprisingly good. All in all, a fun night of frying...but now my stomach hurts and I feel very sluggish.
Next step in our quest to re-make the Bloomin Onion is to go to Outback and conduct research. Anyone want to come research with us ^_^
